Mummies from Below Lawn Lake

Mummies from Below Lawn Lake

This picture is taken from the junction of the Black Canyon and Lawn Lake Trails, below impressive Mummy Mountain. This open area was devastated in the 1982 Lawn Lake Flood, when an unmaintained orphan dam burst. The flood killed three backcountry campers downstream from here. Mummy Mountain dominates the right-hand side of this picture. Its summit is out of sight just to the right. In the mists left of Mummy is Hagues Peak, while Fairchild Mountain is visible in the distance, also in mist, on the left side of this picture. This picture was taken in November 2009 just as a winter storm arrived in the region.
