Very little snow for April and a very nice view. This hike was the ending of a long day after flying in from RI and starting the hike around 1:30, got back around 5:30.

Second stop on a Fletcher-Mummy-Lee-Charleston-Griffith loop. Maybe the largest summit plateau I've ever stood atop!

First was with an international group on July 4, 1999, with my dear friend Latetia. Other than that, most memorable was my April 2005 adventure, when I cramponed from a distant parking lot at 7500' (the main was cut off by an avalanche) to the the top in 2hrs and 40m - wearing shorts!
Been up 5 times by south chutes (starts at 9550'), a route developed by Branch W + Dr F and shown to me by Nick N in 2003. It is perhaps the most exciting and shortest route to the top. Link: Mummy by S chutes
Have been up several more times, by many routes; June 13/2009 was my 20th. This is a good "reality check" hike; if I get to the top in ~2 hrs, I feel ready for normal summer adventures

Great climb -
This is a very scenic climb and the Bristlecone pines are fantastic to see in all their convoluted glory. Amazing to see living trees in such a high dry and hostile environment. Went up Kyle canyon and up the scree slope then the climbers trail to the notch leading to the summit.

Via Trail Canyon, North Loop and Scree Slope
I have done it many times in all seasons. The scree slope is most fun when it is covered in snow.
This peak can be also climbed along with Charleston Peak and Griffith Peak as a long, open loop dayhike when the Spring Mountains are snow free. The slideshow from one of our hikes like that is here: Three Peak hike

Trail Canyon / North Loop
Climbed Mummy Mountain from the North Loop trail. Scrambled up the scree slope to the ridge. The cliffbands on the mountain are more interesting than Charleston Peak. The summit was located on a very long plateau that stretched for a mile.

Great hike with my coworker Jerry Faircloth. I had attempted this mountain once before on a solo climb with cross country skis from the Lee Canyon side on December 31, 1984. After taking most of the day to get to the ridgeline between Charleston and Mummy, I turned around before sunset and made it back to the Lee Canyon ski area in about 45 minutes.
2nd time summitting was May 25th, 2012 via the south chutes (Class 4) with Dick Wimmer, Howard Vandermeer, Jeff Ankeman, and Alan Pulsipher. Winds were 60+ mph on top.

2005 September 25: After living in southern Nevada for over five years, my wife and I finally hiked to the top of Mummy. I've been on Charleston and Griffith several times, but never made it over to Mummy until today. The entire route is nice and direct, without all that downhill-on-the-way-up bullshit that you find on the way to Charleston Peak (via South Loop). The scree up to the ridge above the trail added some variety to the hike, and it actually wasn't too bad. Maybe my tolerance for crappy terrain has just been increased after hiking through the brush to South Guardian Angel last week. The weather was beautiful, which probably helped a lot. I'm glad we hiked this Sunday instead of Saturday. The wind around here was horrible Saturday, and it would have been really cold and windy on top.
2008 June 21: Hiked with my wife and DayHikerJr (age 9 1/2 months). The weather was great, with light winds and maybe 65 or 70F on the summit. Las Vegas, 9500 feet below, was near 110F, so we picked a great day to hike The Mummy!

Challenging hike at times, especially with the dreaded scree slope ascent. Tremendous views of Charleston and the surrrounding Spring Mountains with a touch of Vegas looking towards your south-east. Bring older hiking shoes / boots, the descent of the scree slope is quicker, easier and safer with a simulated ski / surf motion which can tear up newer footwear.

May 12, 2007 -Another summit, this time with a nine and seven year old. Snow is sparse now, and the day was perfect for hiking via Trail Canyon.
May 20, 2006 Via Trail Canyon and a Class 3 climb up a cliff wall. Snow is patchy and the summit is a little muddy, otherwise a great hike. My 8 year old son made the summit today.
January 21, 2006 Via Trail Canyon to Tummy - the Scree slope is mostly free of snow, although there is a lot of mud. The upper portions of Mummy at the base of the cliff walls necessitate crampon use.
August 7, 2005 -Climbed to Mummy's Chin from SR156- Our initial plan was to traverse the entire mountain, but storms with hail chased us down after we reached the chin. Since the Tummy doubles as a lightning rod, we decided to forego the remainder.
Previous June 11, 2005 via ascent:Trail Canyon / North Loop trail/ Scree Slope to the Tummy: A lot of snow remaining on the Northern base of the Mountain. We made it without axe or crampons, but having the right gear would have made this so much easier.
Previous: Camped on the Tummy a couple of times with friends. The area is so large, flat, and wide you could have a football game up there.

Route Climbed: North Loop Date Climbed: Oct 1986You will like this one. Cave spring is a great stop
along the way. Final scamble can be as tough as
you like from class 3 on up. Summit is so large
and flat that its tough to know the exact summit!
I too preferred this over Charleston.
