Mummy mania traverse
My first Mountain!
great view. great mountain.
7th of seven!
9/18/11 - Attemped as part of Mummy Mania but turned back on Chiquita due to winter-like wind.
9/19/11 - Fairchild, Hagues & Mummy from Lawn Lake. 21 miles, 7000 feet but it went quickly because of the good trail. Just under 10 hours RT.
Peak 3 of 6 under mostly rainy weather. Hiked in from Cow Creek, camped at Lawn Lake and exited via the "Dunraven Ridge" to North Fork Trail (GOD AWFUL BUSHWHACK) and North Boundary Trail back to Cow Creek. Brutily long day.
nice jaunt in the park.. fr chapin pass.. last of 6 peaks.. was surprised to find a bunch of fun climbing.. 2nd time in last coupla of weeks ended up needing a hitch in the dark.. within 5 mins had success ..
Last summit of a long day. Dropped straight down the west face in well under an hour, to beat the sunset. Scary place to be. Nice work getting us down, Goldielocks. 5.7 mile hike out, keys in the wrong car, hitched a ride to alpine visitor center, walked 2 miles back to chapin pass.
SE ridge and long walk to the top. Absolutely no one in sight until reaching Lawn Lake in the afternoon.
See my entry in the SE slope climbers log
Camped at Tileston Meadows, and hiked up the southeast slopes in the clouds. The clouds cleared shortly before reaching the summit. From Mummy's summit we then traversed over to Hagues.
Peak 6 of 8, did a variation of "Mummy Mania" we dubbed "Mummy Masochism" because we tacked 2 bushwhack 11ers on to the end. Appx 19 miles, 7000 vertical - climbed Chapin, Chiquita, Ypsilon, Fairchild, Hagues, Mummy, Tileston and Bighorn.
1. A dance involving a rhythmical, heavy step.
Hiked all three peaks in a day after a camp at the Lawn Lake backcountry campsite. Watched the sunrise while ascending Mummy. The summit provided a great view of the Roaring River and the erosion caused by the 1982 flood.
A long approach from Long Lake trail head and a fun steep tundra and talus scramble at the end! I met no one above tree line and had a wonderful mountain ascent in complete solitude.
Was going to try curse of the mummy (Mummy Mania ++), but we didn't have it that day.
Would have been 6 of 6 on this long day. Lightning forced a hastey retreat just 20-30 feet from summit...I feel robbed.
