As Nepal is trekking paradise, thousands of trekkers visit Nepal in order to some trekking. Recently, guides and trekkers have explored new trekking trail “Mundum Trekking Trail” located to North East part of Nepal, from where you will get a chance to see six 8,000-meter high mountains and other mountain ranges. Some of the mountains that you will be able to see during this trekking are Mt. Sishapangma, Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchanjungha, Mt. Makalu, etc.
This Mundum Trekking is easy 8-day trekking which starts from Bhojpur, Chakhewa Bhangjyang (2,300 m). The trail follows Dhotre, Maiyung Haas Pokhari (2,962 m), Rawadhap, Salpa Bhangjyang (3,348 m) to Silichung (4,153 m) and returns from Haas Pokhari and to Suntale ending trekking at Bhojpur Bazar. Add two more days and you can trek up to Taksaar Bajar in Bhojpur and Temke Danda (3000 m). Since it is a newly opened trail, there are no teahouses or guest houses, so this is a complete camping trek. You have to carry your own foods and tents or porter will carry them for you, so you can expect some more adventure during this trek.
During this Mundum trek, you will be able to witness the culture, lifestyle, history, and festivals of Kirat and Rai community people living in this region. And this Mundum trail is named after the holy book (Ved) of the Kirati community.
Places like Temke, Haas Pokhari, Silichung, and Salpa Pokhari are the holy places for the Buddhist, Hindu and Kirati community. During festival season, you can expect people from different part of the country gathering in these places. This same holy trail has been developed as trekking trails for the trekkers. As this is a new trekking route, you cannot get proper itinerary and brochures but with the help of the guide and local tourism board, you will get an itinerary of this route. So if you want to explore less touristic area beside Annapurna Base Camp, Everest Base Camp, Manaslu Circuit, or Kanchunjunga trekking trail, you can choose this Mundum trekking trail.
