Munra Point hike
The hardest part was finding the place to park near where the trail started. I ended up parking on the left of the east bound lanes of I-84 and backing up to the gate to the bike trail.
The hike up took 1.5 hours and down was 45 minutes. Great views and nice challenging steep hike. There was on 15-foot class 3 section. There were ropes hanging down but I did not use them.

Had some of the most spectacular views I've ever seen, however not the safest to hike in a few feet of snow.

fun scramble
The hardest part was finding the trailhead. The guidebook was a bit vague and we ended up doing some serious bushwhacking in our attempts to find it. Once we found the trail the hike was great fun. Fantastic views from the top and some fun scrambling.

Steep!
In town to climb Mt. Hood with some buddies, but the weather was terrible so we went up to Munra Point to at least get to the top of something. Great views from the top. Picked up two ticks at some point during the hike.

Incredible!
This was my first visit, and I plan to make an annual pilgrimage. Unbelievable views, and beautiful wildflowers at this time of year. Next time I plan to explore further south.
Hiked this many times. A great hill for training steep class 3 hiking, especially downhill.

Good and steep!
A great hike. We climbed in (mostly) sunny, dry weather, well before the big NW snowstorm hit. I liked how solid most of the rocks were for the scrambling, but I definitely wouldn't want to do this hike in inclement conditions. There were a small handful of other people who were also climbing up to Munra. Would do again!

Good First Scramble
One of my first scrambles. After this we went over and did beacon rock. Good short hike and scramble. Watch for ticks, we got a couple on the way down.
I simply love munra point. I think I've done this one 7 or 8 times and have only seen another group on the trail once, so it's great if you're looking for a little solitude. I've always taken the trail 400 route which is flat for the first mile and a half which can make a pleasant jog before you start the steep stuff. I did manage to get a tick on my chest on one of my trips up, but never since. Now that I've moved away, I'm really going to miss this one.
Worthy of its own page. A fun climb. I'd like to descend into Moffett Creek. Has anyone done this?

Good variety...
For a short climb, this hike has the elevation gain, the forest, the rocky ridge scrambling, the class 3/4 gully and the sweet knife ridges near the summit, to keep anyone happy...well, maybe not a smoker!
I'm not exactly sure how what the route was that I did it (mandrake might be able to jog my memory?) but I do remember a class 3 scramble at one point. Very cool area!
Looking back, I think we went up via Tanner Creek ....

One of my favorites
1/30/05 From Eagle Creek TH did the hike along the abandoned road. Warm 60 degree January day but the rock gulley was wet.
1/29/06 From highway. Tried to bushwhack up the hill and ended up in 3 feet deep pockets of decayed tree trunks. Found the path through the ditch and up in 43 degree weather. Rapped the gulley and was happy my self-retrieving anchor system worked. Cool!
1/5/08 With Karl, lots of snow made the final ridges look like alpine knife-edges. Downclimbed the rock groove. I really dig this hike.
3/22/08 With Ian and Zach. Some iciness on the rocks. Spent some time of top scrambling out the NE ridge and playing on the "fin" on the south ridge.
2/26/16 With Bill on an odd sunny and warm February day. The path on this is a much more substantial trail now. And way more popular. Lots of people playing hooky from work this day.
4/15/17 Sunny nice day, went on to 2500 ft up the ridge exploring. So many people out today. So much garbage. So many new swaths through the green where people are making trails around things and tearing things up. It was sad. Idiots taking their dogs up to the summit. This has gone from a fun unpopular scramble to today on my way down there had to be at least 50 people on their f'ing cell phones taking selfies blocking the trail. I hauled out orange peels, garbage, etc. Morons.
Summer 2017 - Munra first and then over to Wauna Point.
