Musina Peak and the north ridge approach.

Hit up the Skyline road from Mayfield to Twelvemile Campground, then south on the Skyline another 10 miles. I parked my truck about 3.5 miles north of the summit, rode my mountain bike down further south to a corral area with a pond, where a steep doubletrack led west up to the north ridge of Musina. After stashing the bike in some trees, I followed the ridge south to the summit. There is a good trail up there leading to the east flank of the summit, where there is some class 2 and 3 scrambling for about 400 vertical feet to the flat summit area above. August 16, 2012.
