Quick summit  Sucess!

Plenty of free camping enroute with not restrictions. Watch out for hunters in the fall.

Blanket of Snow  Sucess!

When I reached the top, the sun was just setting over a fresh blanket of snow in the valley below. Incredible scenery. (I don't recall the exact date, but it was around Nov/Dec of 1998.)

This was my second time on the summit. Lots of wildflowers still. Saw only three other hikers, and that was on the way down. Great mountain!

Route Climbed: Tony Grove Date Climbed: July 4, 1997  Sucess!

This was the first time I hiked up here. The canyon and the lake were very crouded. About 300 yards down the trail, it was quiet. I only saw 1 forest ranger, and 3 back country skiers all day. The last half of the hike was in snow, and finding the trail was hard. At the summit I found the benchmark, on a loose boulder. I slid down the snow to aportion of the trail down below.

I came back on July 24th with my fiance (now wife) and camped just below the summit. Been back 2 more times since.

Still an abundance of snow after the first mile. Pretty area and the view from the top was excellent. I forgot my sunscreen so I got a pretty nice burn. The campground at Tony Grove is a good place to spend the night if you are in need of a camping spot but on weekends, this place will be crowded.

August 19, 1998 - This is a nice hike and the trail is in good condition all the way to the top of Naomi Peak. After Naomi we went to climb Mount Magog. We hiked off-trail and almost fell into some caves along the way. There really are a lot of caves in the area.

October 13, 2006 - My friend was visiting from California and had never been to the Bear River Range. I decided to take him up Naomi Peak. There was quite a bit of snow because it had stormed a few days earlier. The mountain was well worth climbing again.

Route Climbed: Tony Grove trail Date Climbed: June 19, 2003  Sucess!

I tried to hike Naomi Peak a couple weekends before, and found that snow covered everything from 1/4 of the way up. We blazed our own trail (not really know where the trail was?) most of the way, and eventually turned around at what I later found was about 1/2 mile from the top. Oh well.

My twin brother and I hiked up in an evening after work. No others on the trail at all, and great weather. Most of the snow had melted, and flowers were barely starting to come up along the trail. I had read this was a 4 mile hike each way, which I disagree with. It seemed more like 3 miles each way at most.

Route Climbed: North ridge/White Pine Lake Date Climbed: June 28, 1988  Sucess!

Took the trail to White Pine Lake then climbed a chute through the cliffs to the flats above. Then I ascended to the north ridge, took a left for a nice hike to the top. For a return I followed the main ridge south to its south end. From there I dropped down to Tony Grove Lake. The south ridge was nice overall, but a couple stretches were a bit difficult. The day started warm and sunny, got cold and cloudy on top, then finished warm and sunny. I would like to do this one again someday.

The weather was sunny, but it was windy and cold up there by this time. A couple of hunters had bagged a buck and were dragging it down to the trailhead. All in all it's a nice and relatively short hike.

Second time in this area, first was during a -10 degree winter a few years ago....damn cold in the sink area. Second time: Left work and busted through several snow banks to grab a camp site. Hit the peak early and continued over to the GOG'S.
