Cool summit  Sucess!

Like much stuff in the Reef, a routefinding adventure on crappy rock with beautiful country and great views. Worth a visit!

Very nice hike and scramble

Pen and I hiked to the high point and scrambled up to the top of Navajo Knobs in May of 2009. I completely forgot we did this until we visited Capitol Reef again this fall 2021.

Trail highpoint

Followed the cairned trail to the easily obtain highpoint (6,983). Scouted the route to the true Navajo Knobs highpoint from the trail, but exposed 5th class solo sandstone scrambling is not my bag. Very windy day, so enjoyed observing some interesting lenticular clouds in the area. Capped off the day with an exciting drive up the Caineville Wash road to the awe-inspiring Temples of the Sun and Moon in Cathedral Valley. Capitol Reef is truly one of the best national parks I've ever had the pleasure of visiting!

Trail Route  Sucess!

With Rachael. Trail from Hickman Bridge trailhead. Did a few other trail hikes in the park on our trip, Chimney Rocks Loop and Cohab/Fryinpan to Cassidy Arch from the campground area. First visit, cool park and looking forward to exploring the backcountry on future visits!

If you don't have time for backcountry at Capitol Reef  Sucess!

Crossing Utah's national parks off our dance card and spent the day at Capitol Reef. After getting one of the last campsites (at 11:30 AM on a Saturday - not bad - and Loop B has 5 tent only walk in sites), we asked the ranger what the longest hike we could do that day was and she suggested this.
Very hot and exposed with some steep parts, but the slickrock is easy to hike on and the views of the Hickman Bridge overlook, the overlook halfway up, and the panoramic view at the top were well worth it. Scramble at the end was fun and shared the top with a tarantula wasp!

Waterpocket Fold  Sucess!

Sweet views of the Fold, the Henrys, and Boulder Mountain. The 360-degree perch at the end of the hike is amazing.
