Pete and I angled up the west connecting ridge to the base of the summit pyramid and headed up from there. The ridge is a bit more difficult than the pyramid. 2 1/2 hours from camp at Cached Lake to summit.
Hiked up in the afternoon from Main Eagle and stayed the night at Eagle Lake. Big t-storm settled in on Needle Point for a couple hours in the middle of the night, so sleep was fitful. Got up early and went straight up the ridge from the dam, veered right at the high basin and gained the NE ridge. At the knife edge section I descended a short distance in the ravines, traversed, then climbed directly up the rocks to summit. Downclimbed the west ridge to Cached Lake, then back to the trailhead. Nice outing.
Tied Cached Lake South Peak and Needle Point into a quick overnight trip. Loved the views of the surrounding peaks from the summit.
Had a great hike and scramble. The decent to Eagle Lake was a bit hairy. Had a late hike in the dark back to camp at Cached Lake.
