Newt

One of the many dozens (or hundreds) of newts that fill the little ponds and lakes on Big Slide. These guys are literally about every 3 square feet or so in the lakes along with some salamanders, frogs, etc.

Yes, I think they're called "Rough-skinned newts," as OPPOSED to "Smooth-skinned newts."

Another HAVEN for NEWTS is Swan Creek County Park between PUYALLUP & TACOMA in Pierce County. Back in the 1980s, they were really plentiful -HOPE they're still around.

Guess they're the main ingredients for a WITCHES BREW! Your photo is from the Big Slide Mtn. in OREGON, right? Cheers.

Yes, it is in Oregon, just SE of Portland.
