Awesome alternative to hike BaldyAwesome hike from Wrightwood up Acorn Trail, and then up the North Backbone passing Pine Mountain, Dawson Peak and then Baldy. Only 3,700' difference between start and Baldy Peak but almost 7,000' of gain on the out and back. Lots of ups and downs.
Virtually all class 1 terrain with two class 2 moves on the beginning of the ridge heading south toward Pine Mountain.

North Backbone TrailGreat hike up Pine, Dawson and eventually to Baldy. Found a secluded spot for lunch up top, then spotted over a dozen sheep west of the trail on the north slope of Baldy...very cool...

Quite Possibly the Best Trail in the SGsAwesome views even on a hazy day, 3 highest points in the range.

Great trail!Had a great time going from Wright Mountain to Baldy and back. Awesome views the entire hike.
