Re: sounds like a winner

Thanks Larry. I have not done the standard route on El Diente, but from the things I have heard I think the buttress is a more solid alternative for the late summer season.

Excellent Job

Brad-This is one of the finest route descriptions I've seen on SP in AGES! Outstanding, with great route photos and concise descriptions and instructions. Very well done sir! If I were to ever climb El Diente again, I would try this route and I'm sure I'd enjoy it and find your route description spot on. I've been wondering if this possiblity would ever be posted on SP. Thanks to you, it has, and it looks great. The mountain might actually have a "clean route" after all. Thanks again for this great addition to the El Diente route line up!

Re: Excellent Job

I am flattered, Aaron. Thanks to jwproulx on 14ers.com for suggesting the route to me. I am grateful I was able to avoid the slog up the slopes. From what I have heard from several experienced climbers over the past couple weeks, it sounds like it is in really ugly condition right now.

Re: Excellent Job

Hi Brad. The North Slopes route is not recommended for anything other than a snow climb. I'm sure that route is absolutely horrible once the snow is gone. It's the snow grinding away on that slope that makes the route so ugly during the warmer seasons. You definitely deserve kudos on your fine route contribution. Thanks for sharing it with the the SP community. It's a real treasure for a mountain known for its "ugliness" (even though the mountain still looks cool from the west or east). I believe jwproulux is an SP member as well, so I will indeed thank him as well for this magnificent suggestion. I recall the El Diente page being rather lean on route options when I inherited it, and now it has truly come into its own thanks to contributions like yours, so yeah, it's much appreciated. So, well done, and congrats on your El Diente climb!
