Went NS-->Wheeler-->Clinton to finish both the top 200 and top 100 peaks in Colorado.
Great day out with Chris Oliver. Conditions were good, beat the late pm winds. 60 deg steepest slope.
had failed twice in winter ( way too strong winds) so finally knocked it out on a calm day - easy stroll along East Ridge - no one up there
Didn't meet a soul. Funny to think of the teeming hordes on either side -- on Lincoln & Quandary. Nice ridge
Long day (did Mount Silverheels that morning), still tons of snow, snowshoes the whole way.
Hoosier Pass to North Star to Wheeler
Started from Hoosier Pass at 5AM. Took East Ridge to summit North Star. Connected to Wheeler, then to Clinton, then to McNamee, then to Traver. Descended into basin and took 4WD road back. Back at car around 1:45PM. No wind and lots of sun. Actually started to pour, hail, and storm as soon as I got back. The crux of this route is the headwall along the ridge to Wheeler. This ridge rapidly changes from Class 2 to 3 to 4. Trust no rock because there are lots of loose holds. Also, lots of spider webs along the ridge past the headwall. If you hate spiders as much as me, it may make you turn around.
Very warm, calm day for winter! Not much snow. Was the only one who made the trek across the long ridge that day. Excellent views of the surrounding Tenmile/Mosquito Range
Nice weather, oddly not windy!!!!!
Nice, scenic route on a mostly pleasant day. Pretty early in my "mad peak hunting" career.
Did early in the morning, great easy hike to start the weekend. Extremely windy and cloudy, but still suitable views.
Second ascent (12/1/13), solo this time. Very windy day, especially on the ascent where it was in my face. Starting to really feel like winter up high.
Third ascent (11/17/18), with Rachael and Jamie.
Came across a pair of mtn goats coming down the narrower section of the ridge as we were going up. Both parties hesitated but then crossed side by side since neither wanted to down climb off the ridge. Passed close enough to reach out and touch them. Very cool!
A good day.
Perfect weather on a fun ridge!
Windy, windy day on North Star. Had to keep ducking below the ridge for a little reprieve.
Fun hike! The ridge the final mile is exciting with snow. Great views of Quandary and Lincoln on the way up.

Had whole place to self. Nice hike to end a week in the Tenmile/Mosquito. Some snow up top on ridge made for good travel.
Late start...Magnolia Mine "highpoint."
