Approach

Follow the Farewell Gap trail out of Mineral King for approximately 3.5 miles. You will come to a trail junction signposted for Franklin Lakes and Franklin Pass; take this trail up to the pass.

Route Description

From Franklin Pass, simply follow the ridge up to the summit. The only route-finding issue of note arises where the ridge steepens; an easy-looking ledge is seen to the left, but this leads you out to the steep east face of the peak (class 3 with careful route-finding, class 4 otherwise). Avoid this temptation, and keep to the right of the crest of the ridge instead. The uppermost portion of the ridge consists of large blocks, requiring some weaving in and out; the route is generally well-ducked and obvious.

Essential Gear

None required.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
