February 20, 2006 Villa Ridge with Timothy Pearl and Eric  Sucess!

We thought we were on Fletcher but ended up we were on the "knob" before Fletcher. To our delight we found out this knob was actually a peak that goes by the unofficial name of Drift Peak. The weather was cold, especially with the 30-50mph winds that made it that much worse. The hiking up top was quite tricky with the variable snow conditions. Lots of nasty postholing made for slow-going. It was very interesting to see the infamous dust layer in the snowpack as well.

Ahhh, winter...  Sucess!

Eric, James and I made pretty good time for an underestimated mountain. A fun winter climb with good views (when not socked in, of course). Skis came in handy. Frostbite cold up there in the wind.

Winter Ascents Rule!  Sucess!

Very cold! My feet definately took a toll on this one, but it was worth it. Would be good training for peaks in the Himalaya. Breaking trail was tough, and even though I was the youngest of the group with the most energy, I was pretty drained at the top from leading, (this task was shared.)

Dark  Sucess!

A dark morning en route. A deer's green eyes scared the hell out of me at one point.
