We started from Fall Creek trail, after reaching shelter we had to navigate around notch to get to Notch Mountain summit, some route finding challenges but it was great hike.

Peak 13,248/Notch Mountain
Kessler, Shaylee, and I set off to climb Peak 13,248 and Notch Mountain. We awoke to 26F/-4C, but it was a beautifully clear day. We hiked up the trail before turning up Notch Mountain and I was surprised how well graded and pleasant the trail was all the way to the shelter.
Once at the shelter we had some snacks and headed for Peak 13,248. Once on top we were still feeling good and since we had a lot of time still available, we contemplated doing the Halo Ridge. Since we hadn't planned to do that ahead of time, we didn't think we had enough water since we only had two combined liters left. We decided to head over to Notch Mountain instead.
We scrambled up Notch Mountain and then enjoyed the views before heading back down along the ridge.
It was a pleasant and good climb. It was a bit breezy at times, but the weather was really good.

Halfmoon
Slept through the alarm for the Cross Couloir and ended up on the N. Ridge of Holy Cross by mistake (missed the turnoff at the creek AHHHHGAIN). Didn't feel like going up Holy Cross via walkup so we turned around and went up Notch instead. Cool peak.

third thirteener of the day, right before we started to descend from halo ridge. an easy, fairly non-descript peak with glorious views of the cross. too bad the ice was blocking us from opening the door to the notch mountain shelter!

Halfmoon Pass - Halo Ridge
Climbed over Notch Mtn from Halfmoon Pass en route to Holy Cross. Great views and lots of fun ridge hiking!
Hiked from Half Moon Pass up the north ridge route. Perfect time to hike the mountain since all of the couloirs were full of snow. It started raining and hailing just before getting back to the trailhead.

Climbed the peak and slept in the shelter during a 30 day Colorado Outward Bound School course. We did some cleanup work in the shelter, and climbed Mt. Holy Cross the next day.

Halfmoon TH
Climbed from the TH and took the side trail up Notch at night. Watched the sunrise on Holy Cross from the summit. Traversed the Notch. Walked half the Halo ridge, wanted to complete the loop over Holy Cross but my my friends alt. sickness turned us around. We descended the switchback trail and took the Tuhare Lakes trail back to Halfmoon TH instead of completing the loop

Hike to Notch was great. Good views of the Gores. Loved the shelter. Got turned back on Halo Ridge due to high winds and approaching storms. Can't wait to go back in winter.

Long Day
We ended up here after doing Halo Ridge from Holy Cross. We didn't make it to the northern summit, but made the southern one. Guess thats why the call it notch mountain. Cool views of Cross Couloir
