Amazing views!

This has to be one of the best hikes in Utah. We had snow in the canyon that made things difficult, so we had to do more bushwhacking than we would have liked. The views were amazing and the bristlecone pines were out of this world cool. Had an enjoyable day. (see trip report)

Magnificent  Sucess!

Climbed up to Noth Peak via Sawtooth Canyon with Scott W. We encountered sections of snow in the drainage with plenty of post-holing. I've never been on top of such an extremely tall cliff. We also visited the nearby Bristle Pine forest.

From Sawtooth Canyon  Sucess!

It's truly an incredible hike. Breathtaking views and the largest cliffs I've seen.

Fantastic!  Sucess!

Came up from Sawtooth Canyon late in the afternoon. It was already getting dark by the time I summited. Beautiful sunset from the summit.

Awesome! More snow than we expected. We topped out on the ridge and followed it to the top.

Route: Sawtooth Canyon  Sucess!

Madjohnbo and I summited on a beautiful February day. With little snow this year we had a fairly easy time except in some waist-deep snow drifts in the Bristlecone pines before the cliff. It was awesome and I will definetly be back.

MOTHER OF ALL CLIFFS  Sucess!

You WILL NOT lean out over this cliff to get a good view of the bottom. I guarantee it. Climbed with MOCKBA (or rather tried to keep up or at least not too far behind.) This was the Sunday follow-up to our Saturday ascent of the Deep Creek summits. The Bristle Cone Pines were a treat.

Climbed this with Scott Towsey. We had the peak entirely to ourselves. Awesome north face on this mountain!

For some reason turned north at a fork in the canyon and bushwacked up to a saddle beneath the peak - a decision that on the climb down by the correct route looked obviously wrong. The drop off at the top was horrifying.

Sawtooth Canyon  Sucess!

Found the trailhead, but am not sure I was ever actually on route from there. A mile from the car, I never saw anything resembling a trail (or even a use trail, for that matter) until the last 15 minutes to the summit.

The summit views were awesome. The summit cairn was a work of art - cool.

Beautiful hike up the south route. Cool canyon -- even in July -- and a better view than the Grand Canyon. Descended the northern route. Hard -- see my comments on route info and the topo map. It took a leisurely 2.5 hours to reach the top and a fairly grueling 3.5 hours to get down. Go south, young man.

Nearly died on the scramble to the peak - not for computer geeks! Fantastic view, though, and really a nice hike through the canyon. The drop-off at the peak is absolutely stunning.

Sawtooth Canyon (June 19, 1999) - Great mountain. My favorite part is the huge cliff that drops from the summit for 4,000+ feet - amazing! Read in the register that its a favorite place for hang gliders to jump off. I don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon.

West Sawtooth Canyon (April 30, 2006) - This is a nice hike. It was even more impressive to see the huge northwest face of Notch Peak from the base of the mountain than from the summit.

An absolutely awesome desert peak. The "notch" has to be seen to be believed. Next time, the northwest arete! Ha!

Long drive from SLC but a great, remote hike with staggering scenery! Pictures don't do this peak and it's cliffs justice.
