Nut Basin Lake

This small mountain lake is about a two mile drive and two mile walk from Southwest Butte, but it is the only mountain lake camping option in the area. The south side seen here is pretty swampy, but the north side has some dry camping options. The bug are really bad here. The lake sits in a cold pocket as indicated by the abundant spruce trees seen here. The lake is periodically planted with trout. July 2007
