This beautiful herbaceous perennial is not too common in the southern Tahoe Basin, but there can be hundreds of plants where it does occur. The highest I've seen this plant is on the trail from High Meadows to Star Lake at around 8800 feet. South Lake Tahoe, June 9, 2007
