Armstrong Trail to Armstrong Pass, TRT to the pass between Freel and Trimmer. Me and my brother decided to head out to Trimmer first, for some excellent granite scrambling. Then it was up to Freel, for a fine view, but very cold, strong winds. Plans to continue to Job's and Job's Sister were abandoned due to the hour getting late, and the cold winds.

Tahoe Triple Crown
Hiked from Armstrong Pass trailhead and bagged Freel, Jobs Sister, and Jobs. It was a very cold day. We only saw four other people, and they were all on Jobs.

Dayhike
Finally got the opportunity to do the triple crown south of Lake Tahoe. I have had my eye on these peaks, Freel specifically since I started baggin' peaks a few years ago. My main hiking buddy's parents moved to Gardnerville a couple years back and we have been using it as a basecamp for many hikes over the past few years. We finally found the time for this triple and we peaked a fantastic weather day to do it. We went the obvious clockwise direction and were at Freel before we knew it, thinking that it did not feel anywhere as hard as we were expecting. Maybe that's the case, maybe we have had a strong summer so far and this was a weightless dayhike. Freel was packed so we ran down the backside and were atop Jobs Sister in 20 minutes or so, taking the time here to finish our breakfast burritos and rest a bit. The bootski down the backside of Sister was fun, but I almost fell in a couple spots. Jobs was a bit more of a climb than expected, but nothing to complain about. We met some cool people atop Jobs and spent more time than expected up there. We more or less ran back to our car at Horse Meadow with much of the day left to enjoy. To be honest, I must have built this trip up in my head over the years. I didn't really enjoy it as much as expected. Maybe it was the sand or the crowds, maybe we've been on a lot cooler peaks this summer. Whatever it was, they're bagged now and I am happy to have done so.

Gorgous Fall Day
Everything from the trail to the weather conditions were ideal. Fall colors and windless blue skies accompanied us the whole way. We went out and back in under 5 hours. I would have liked to have added Jobs and Jobs Sisters, but chose to go back the same way we came up.

Mt Freel
Climbed in March on skis and in June hiking. There is scree which can be a little annoying but this peak is worth it given the vantage point for the southern Tahoe area. The ski sun exposure was intense-my friend still has the burn marks 4 years later to prove it!
Went for the triple, but only bagged Freel Peak and Job's Sister. Beautiful day and awesome weather and some nice snow fields. Wanted to try for Job's peak, but it was late in the day and dinner was calling.

Did a triple peak bagging hike on Sunday. Jobs Peak is Ogul #18 at 10663', Jobs Sister is Ogul #19 at 10823', and Freel Peak is Ogul #20 at 10881'. Freel Peak is the tallest peak in the Tahoe area. Hiked these with Carley and Lucy from NorCal Women Adventurers.
After a pleasant hike up Jobs Peak, and a hellish one up Jobs Sister, we were ready for our third and final peak of the day. From Jobs Sister we could see the trail down and up to Freel Peak. It looked steep up the summit, but we were happy just to see a trail!
We headed back down the saddle and walked across a cool high plateau with some snow still remaining. We had to cross one small snowfield, but it wasn't steep. From there we started up the summit of Freel and were soon on top of our third peak of the day. Woohoo! We were almost done!! We took our celebratory photos and headed down a cross-country route to return to our car. We sometimes had a path to follow, but it eventually petered out and we just kept heading down. After a long day, we were happy to be back at the car and stuffed our faces at Brick's in Placerville. A long day, but totally worth it!

we were able to drive in to Horse Meadow. Still some snow on the way up but overall a pretty short hike. Would have been easy to walk over and tag Job's sister but we were short on time
