Hiked up Pacific and Atlantic over Labor Day 2006.
10/1/05 - Mayflower Gulch approach. Traversed from Crystal and Pacific. New snow made talus hopping difficult & annoying.
1/7/17 - West ridge from Mayflower Gulch in frigid temps. Descended into Pacific Creek from the Atlantic/Pacific saddle (steep slopes were wind-scoured).
Very windy day, 3 other parties turned around, but I am stubborn and went on. It did calm down in the evening, great sunset and return in the dark (started late around 12:40).
Very nice hike. Early season dusting of snow made for very scenic views.
Enjoyable route, not really exposed, was windy but fall potential is low. Fall the seasonhowever, was in full swing. Willows are easy to navigate but I bet it is a swamp in Spring.
Climbed after summiting Pacific. Descended the West Ridge of Atlantic back to Mayflower Gulch.
Pretty straightforward. Descended the west ridge a bit, then an epic glissade north into what must be a hellish moraine in the summer. Trip report.
Mayflower Gulch - Atlantic - Pacific - down Humbug Gulch and parallel hwy 91 to vehicle.
Vacated Pacific Peak at 9:23am. "Dawdled" down, across & up the connecting saddle route and reached summit at 10:25am. Exited at 10:35 and down a slide area into Boston Mine Basin (big mistake), Finally to the Boston Mine Road to Mayflower Gulch Road and back to my truck at 12:49pm just as is started to rain........Another centennial 13er, sweet!
Completed a traverse of Crystal, Pacific, and Atlantic via Spruce Creek.
clear, calm, and surprisingly warm! West ridge was fun.
It was originaly a nice, blue fall day, very cold in the morning. I started late but everything seemed good. Until out of the blue sky, stormclouds formed within 30 minutes it started to snow and I heard several thunders. Thundersnow. Thats why I gave up Pacific.
Traversed over from Pacific after climbing Pacific's West Ridge. Descent was miserable as we left the snowshoes in the car.
fun scramble up east side cliff band, avoiding loose gulleys
3rd: 7/8/12 Climbed as a combo with Pacific Peak, hiked coast to coast faster than you can fly it ;)
4th: 3/18/17 West Ridge on a warm late winter day.
Summitted via the Atlantis Couloir today with friend Jake. The snow was great and went to within about 10 feet of the top of the couloir. Descent via the saddle with Pacific - still enough snow to glissade from the saddle.
Atlantic West Ridge, traverse to Pacific, over Mayflower Hill on the way out. All from Mayflower Gulch. First dusting of snow of the season.
Nice early "winter" season climb, surprisingly warm, calm day for December! Ridge is in good condition, not much snow and minimal cornices. Some snow below treeline so snowshoes still a good idea at least for that section.
sunny day - no one up there - came over from Pacific
