Carbonate, Cyclone, Low Carb, Grizzly, Mamma, Boulder, then exited to Baldwin Gulch trailhead. With Marshall. Hardest section was the extremely loose Class 3 descent from Low Carb to Grizzly. It may be one of the most loose sections of scrambling I’ve done. Time consuming if care is taken.

Traverse from Mamma
After trying to get my Forester up the road, I chickened out 0.7 mile up. So I started at the bottom and followed the road to the mine and headed up from there. Hit the ridge with Boulder Mtn 500 feet below the summit. Got Mamma, then traversed over to Grizzly and headed down to Baldwin Lake. Nice ridge for the most part. A few spots of loose talus while trying to traverse around a couple of points along the way. Got rained on for 4 miles on the hike out.

Whoa....
The pup and I. Started from the 2wd parking, followed the road up Boulder Mountain, then traversed to Mount Mamma and then on to Grizzly Peak. Pup lost a bootie traversing between Mamma and Grizzly and couldn't find it in all the damn talus. Then, near the summit of Grizzly she threw another bootie, looked for it a bit, but as lightning was fast closing in decided to leave it as an offering to the mountain gods. Booked it to the summit and then hauled ass down to the lake. Then got to endure hail, rain, lightning and thunder on the hike back along the road.
Cool ridge over from "Lo Carb" (North Carbonate). Weather was too unpredictable for Pomeroy and 13,070.

Nice ridge walk
Climbed Grizzly Mountain from Cyclone Creek then traversed the mini-knife edge on the east ridge over to Cronin Peak then on to Cyclone Mountain and Carbonate Mountain. Dropped 3,000' in two miles down the south ridge of Carbonate back to my vehicle. The beginning and end of this loop in the trees/willows was unpleasant but the ridge portion was great!

From Pomeroy to Carbonate
Did a cool loop hike from Pomeroy to Carbonate starting at the Shavano townsite. The ridge from Pomeroy to Grizzly is the most challenging, but still no harder than class 3.

NE Slopes from Baldwin Lake
Climbed up the NE Slopes from Baldwin Lake, traversed over to PT 13646 and Mt Mamma and descended back to the lake on an old mining road. The ridge between the two is surprisingly airy, there is even a short knife edge up to PT 13646 that had 1 or 2 class 3 moves.

East Ridge (ascent), North Ridge (descent)
From Cronin, Cyclone and Carbonate. 9 hours roundtrip from CO 162.
Route Climbed: SW Ridge Date Climbed: September 4, 2005
From Shavano townsite I hiked up beautiful Cyclone Creek. I joined the southwest ridge near its low point and soon was on Grizzly Mountain. I chose to continue on the class 3 east ridge over to North Carbonate, then back toward Shavano via Cyclone and Carbonate mountains. This was a beautiful and strenuous 12+ mile hike.
Route Climbed: south slopes, descend by east ridge Date Climbed: May 28, 2004
I went too early in the season, and punched through the snow surface all day long. But I was really impressed with the beauty of this mountain, especially from along the east ridge.
