Socked in
Was perturbed to find the summit socked in even as the rest of the Morongo Basin was sunny. By mid-morning some views did open up... and that's when the hordes started ascending from Blackrock Campground. The fresh, moist air after the previous day's rainstorm was a rare treat in the desert.
Windy, but clear day. Easy ascent, not too crowded.

Part of Panorama Loop Trail
Fun stroll with great views and weather. Did Panorama Loop trail first and took the WP trail on the way out. Black Rock Campground was nice with a lot of available hikes. Super helpful ladies at Nature Center recommended a couple hikes for us based on the time we had in the Park.

Sunset hike

From Black Rock
Nice hike through an easy wash and shallow canyons.
Hiked up Eureka from Black Rock Canyon Campground via the California Riding and Hiking Trail, Fault Trail and the Eureka Peak Trail. Returned via the Burnt Hill Trail to the Black Rock Canyon Trail and then hiked up Warren on the same trip. It took me about 5 1/2 hr. for both from the Back country board at the Campgrounds.

Went cross country on the way up, then down the trail back to the campground. After Chaparossa in the morning, then continued on to Meeks & Bighorn.

Family Hike through snow and wind
Lots of snow up there from 4,500 feet and up. The family and I presevered with the wind gusts and cold to the top. For the five year old it was her first HPS peak.

Warren Point was one of 3 peaks with a fairly large HPS group. There was a nice sunset view from the top.

Hiked up this peak after a great night at Black Rock Campground. Also hiked up South Park Peak at 11 PM the previous night. Fun cool area to hike in.
