Winter access

Route 23 is usually open all winter. If High Point State Park is closed, you can park at the Park Office gate and hike the AT to the summit.

Monument not open

The monument was closed when I was there this September, not sure if that was unusual or is always closed now.

I live up this way off of rt 23. Hopefully I'll be going up this way soon.

It's a fun place. Interesting in the winter too, likely with walking in from the highway.
