NE Face scramble  Sucess!

15 minutes up the northeast face from the saddle between Elk and Obstruction. The oceanic shale rock is hella loose, but it's mostly class 3. The north face might be true 5th class, so on this rock I would avoid it, it's even looser than Angeles. 10 minute walk down the gentle south slopes to the parking lot

Not much of an obstruction  Sucess!

A dandy off-trail hike through a phlorescence of phlox to a superb viewpoint

Obstruction  Sucess!

Hiked Grand Ridge from Obstruction Point trailhead and then went to Maiden Peak first while going to Elk Mountain and Obstruction Point on the way back.

Very Easy  Sucess!

Fun little summit, and relatively high for the area. Great if you're with people who don't like mountaineering (my family).

Obstruction Point  Sucess!

Hiked to thisi peak from Obstruction Point trailhead around sunset with the mountains in the clear under increasingly overcast skies. It sprinkled rain on the drive back to Port Angeles. Beautiful summit and I would love to do more hiking in this area in the future.

Really?  Sucess!

A walk up. I think we ran the ridge line that day....my first time up it. I'm guessing the date. Been there many times.

Up and back from the parking are  Sucess!

Quick up and down on my way back from Elk and Maiden on the Deer Park trail. Okay, that's not entirely true: got back from the hike, took off my pack and my boots, put on my Crocs, grabbed a cold beer out of the cooler, and THEN went up to the top of Obstruction. Super-duper views today.

Side-note: Wow, Redwic, the north side looks UUUUUGLY from the trail. You've got some stones (and clearly some motivation and skills) to mess around over that side.

Only Take The South Side!  Sucess!

In an attempt to perform thorough recon and analysis of this peak, I totally circled the slopes of the mountain. The loose scree surrounding the mountain, especially on the west side, was very unstable and dangerous to traverse. In my opinion, the south side is the only side worth attempting on this peak, for the casual hiker.
