Old cornice and warm sunlit rocks equals a gap to somewhere deep down below...
High up along the Italian normal route to Lenkstein there was still plenty of old snow. Here the rocks were exposed to the sun, melting the snow from below, and this gap was the result. Seeing this, it's best not to get too close to the edge!
