The highpoint of Iowa is located at the end of this old cattle feedbunk. It features license plates from all over the United States that were left to the owner by Highpointers. There is a register to sign and complimentary keychains for visitors. The State of Iowa is purchasing some of the land at this site and will preserve it for those who like to visit state highpoints. June 7, 2007.

No longer there

This structure is no longer on the site. The collection of license plates, now complete, is on a new sign at the site.

Sad to see it go...

We were there on May 23, 2009 on our way back from Wheeler Peak so I have seen the new look. I thought the feed bunk added a lot of character to the Iowa highpoint, but I was told that some thought it was a safety hazard to the many visitors.
