On The Tourist Trail
When you hire the shuttle bus for Mount Vesuvius, you are only allowed to hike up along the west rim as seen here. To get to the actual summit you are supposed to hire a guide. Knowing there was nothing dangerous about the old trail, I chose to go to the summit alone. Photographed May 10, 2011.
