Once you attain the bench...

Once you attain the bench north above upper Waterdog Lake proceed roughly north directly towards Bald Mountain. Just prior to reaching the base of Bald Mountain the grassy slope heading up to the Continential Divide will reduce in steepness. The best route up should be quite obvious, if rather steep, if you continue far enough north. The general target is the far left end of the large cornice on Bald Mountain in this photo taken in late July, 2005.
