Cool!Looks like you guys had a great weekend in the dessert! Nice job. How did you like this route and Air Guitar?

Re: Cool!Hey Martin - it was our first time at Vantage it we really enjoyed it. Lots of routes we wanted to do on Sunshine Wall but we just ran out of daylight. Air Guitar was awesome and felt easier than 5.10b (but I didn't lead it). Would love to do Pony Keg and then George and Martha sometime.
Did you go to Tieton? I would have sent you an email but we decided at the last minute.

Re: Cool!Glad you guys had fun! Those Feathers climbs are pretty ho hum, but the stuff on Sunshine Wall is nice. Looks like you guys hit some good ones. Stroken The Chicken is really fun I remember.
Air Guitar is 5.10A in the Yoder guidebook, but it is pretty easy for the grade. I think consensus is around 5.9 to 5.9+, definately not 5.10B as shown in Rock Climbing Washington.
Pony Keg is pretty good. Check out Tangled Up In Blue, if you are looking for a great 5.9 crack. I haven't lead George and Marthas yet. Hmmm, a project for this winter.
We ended up not going to Tieton. A combination of the rain that hit Yakima hard early Sunday morning and the lane closures and huge backlog of cars on I90 were the cause.

Re: Cool!Well sh!t - here I was all happy about cuising my way up a 5.10b, and then you have to ruin it :) I agree, though - some of the ratings in Smoot's book are definitely wrong.
It poured Sat night at Vantage and we thought we'd have to head back early. We took a few hours to get breakfast in Quincy, and then hiked to the base of the wall to check it out. Somehow the sun came out and it turned out to be a great day. I was curious whether the same thing happened at Tieton.
We'll have to meet up some weekend out at Vantage ...

Re: Yup! Great series! Thanks guys! It was very enjoyable climbing out there and our gamble with the weather worked out fine. Sunshine Wall has many other appealing climbs for a 10+ climber. Had the worst looking dinner at Martha's Restaurant in George :(, next time it is Mexican...

Re: Yup! Great series!SP pages should keep a "blacklist" of eateries to avoid in a given area.......I'm going to add an infamous Chinese place in Moab to my tower pages.
Do you value solid, well timed and well defined #2's? Then avoid Lucky Wok in Moab .
Maybe Martin could add Martha's on the Vantage page :)

Re: Yup! Great series!Funny stuff. I would NEVER eat at anyplace in George. That town is scary. A bit too backwater. I don't think it is just Martha's. Basically I bring camp food for weekends at Vantage.
There are some great spots in Ellensburg for the ride home though!!!

Yer Kidding?Right?
I guess WA is not what it use to be. It must be turning into another CAlifornication! I have had my share of grub at many a "c" rated establishments.
George aint scary. Compton is scary! Watts is scary. Heck, even Tacoma can be scary. But George......?

Re: Yer Kidding?Grease diner food that gives you the massive shits for 24 hours and heartburn when it isn't even spicy just isn't my thing. Maybe scary was the wrong word. "Bad" is better.

Re: Yer Kidding?I don't know. My friends have always said that I have a iron-gut, but I never thought that the diner was that bad. What do you want from a greasy diner? Good food? But then again I go to Tijuana and never have problems eating from the roach-carts either. Some people just have weak systems I guess.
