One route up the crux

As a hiker and not a climber, I found this crux section fairly intimidating, and on the way up found myself in terrain well above class 2. On the way down, I found the route shown which never gets worse than class 2+, and has the added advantage that it is the shortest distance between grassy slopes. Note that near the top of this pitch, it is crucial to stay in the center and pass through low treeline scrub rather than go right, which initially looks easier but gets much worse.
