My woman found a site, coupon or discount. com or something like that. It allowed me 25% off any purachase at Backcountry.com, when she gets home I am going to ask her what it was , this would make an excellent addition to this page. I can't wait for my Montbell Down Hugger to arrive!!!
I'm not including coupon websites in this list as there are probably 100 of them and they are not specific to climbing. You can definitely find some money saving coupons on them though...
I love the whole marketing campaign by Moosejaw, however I've had horrible luck buying from them online. After the 3rd mistake, I stopped ordering from them. They once sent me someone elses order; a pair of women's climbing shoes. (My order was completely different.) It even had her name and address on the enclosed invoice.
They also screwed me on their initial rewards system. I was just on the brink of getting free shipping for life because of some big orders I had placed and then they switched to a new rewards program. I called them about it and they totally blew me off. It's hard to win back customer loyalty after that kind of BS.
Great list. Wonder if there's some way SPers could vote on each retailer without creating separate pages. A hack would be create an image for each retailer for people to vote on like a photo gallery.
I've had bad experiences with both Moosejaw (faulty inventory system resulted in an unexpected 3 week delay and even then I didn't receive the right rope) & Altrec (took ~1 month to process my refund).
That's a great idea voting on merchants. I don't know of any really good/easy way to do it but I'll give it some thought. Using photos has both advantages (easy to implement) and disadvantages (subject to misunderstanding & voting errors). If anyone else has any suggestions for how to implement a merchant voting system, I'd love to hear them.
Great resource. I didn't see this one on your list. Neptune Mountaineering out of Boulder CO(neptunemountaineering.com). Luckily for me it's close enough to just go to the store but they also have online sales available.
