Circa 2002. Hiked with Chuck in the snow. Long ridge walk to the actual summit.
Struggled through the snow. But brought sleds. That was fun.
Nice walk up Icehouse Canyon.
Although this area gets packed, it doesn't bother me much because I am on the trail in the dark and coming out when everyone else is just starting. Bighorn is right next door so might as well say hello!
with Cucamonga and Bighorn.
Warm day, great views along the ridge leading to the summit.
Summited with my husband, very beautiful day!!!
Summited after bagging Bighorn Peak with three other hikers. Got fairly windy before we started our descent back to Icehouse Canyon.
I can't even remember when I climbed it specifically, but I know I did, and I know it was a fantastic San Gabriel high country hike with a sweet view. :)
Followed the standard trail via Icehouse Canyon to the top. Even though I knew to expect some false summits, even I got to thinking "this one is it", only to round a bend and see some higher rocks. Weather was nice, not too warm. Lots of people ... and dogs lower down.
Much like San Bernardino peak, this too has a seemingly never ending summit approach. The peak is deceiving because you lose altitude at one point and have to regain it. Besides all this, good hike. Would not choose to do it again if I had other hiking options.
Enjoyable, if somewhat loose in spots, ridge climb from Sugarloaf. Continued over False Ontario (like the old summit log) and finished on Bighorn. Nice 4 summit day.
Followed the ridge line from Bighorn. Post holing up to ours waists.
Single day winter solo.
A random leg stretch while hanging out in the San Gabriels.
one of my favorite summits in all of the san gabes. hiked out of icehouse canyon for a long day hike. best time to go is early summer or early fall before the snows and when its not too hot. excellent summit views and an overall enjoyable dayhike.
Made it up, but the heat was a little hard to bear. Not much shade past icehouse saddle in the afternoon. Many false summits to deal with along the ridge.
Only two other people on the trail the entire hike, great views off the Baldy Bowl. One of my favorite hikes. From Icehouse Canyon TH.
Climbed as part of hike described in trip report where Ontario, Bighorn, Cucamonga and Telegraph Peaks climbed together.
Beautiful summer day up high, but most of Inland Empire was covered by a blanket of fog. Solid views of Baldy from along the entire ridge.
