FantasticI've always been especially thrilled by moonlit mountains and inside lit tents shots. Since entering world of photography, some 14 years ago, I’m still waiting to be in position to take such amazing shot like the one you took here Nelson. The other one with monastery is also great.

Re: FantasticThanks, aleksandar. Shortly before I went on this trip Galen Rowell came out with a book that had a candle lit tent shot. So I had the idea that it was possible. This was the night it came together for me.

amazingthe amount of deforestation that has occured in the last 26 years. I was in Tengboche in 2002 and the look of the area is almost barren. We hear about deforestation but this picture brought it home in an almost violent way . I'm stunned !

Re: amazingI was there in 2002 also. Wonder if we crossed paths?! The bad news is what you say. The good news is that the situation has improved since 1994. I passed through then, and the deforestation was even worse than today.

Re: amazingWe missed by several weeks. I came through in early November, coming down the Imja valley from the Barun Valley and Makalu Base Camp. Small world though. It was worth checking!

Re: amazingI really appreciate the vast differences in scenery with this one shot. Tranquil scene at camp with the fearness of the mountain beyond. Beautiful shot Nelson!

Re: amazingThanks a lot Deb. Much appreciated. You have to hand it to those Buddhist monks. They sure know how to pick good places to put monasteries. Location, location, location!
