Our party with a distintly non-alpine 2:40 start.I include this photo to exhibit the typical density of the Maine woods. One hops from boulder to boulder while going through swamps and up brooks. Tree species: Thuja, a well loved nursery plant, good for boats and keeping moths out of your clothes if used in drawers. Sometimes we were treated to boardwalks which can be quite slippery. My brother in law(the guy in shape) lost his shoe in here back in the mid 80's. His sons kept a sharp eye out for it but it is still MIA
