Unusual, don't really like.
I bought a pair of these low gaiters for summer scree adventures. I don't like how they have the velcro on the side rather than on the front or back. It is a little awkward to put them on. Also, there is no little tab to retain the foot strap, so it just flops around. This has caused the strap to get caught on brush etc. They also don't seem to be very low profile. Mine tend to bunch up, and they end up rubbing against one another as I walk, making that "swish swish" sound...
I don't know if they are water proof, since I have only used them to keep dry scree out of my boots in the summer.
