Day hikes, mountain biking
Great for day hikes and mountain biking! It holds all the stuff I usually carry: water, food, small first-aid kit, emergency blanket, camera, phone, and keys. I did not have this pack for some of my crazier adventures, but I wish I had! I've since been able to break it in with some snowshoeing and a 7-hour hike. Did the job just fine!

I was using my huge school backpack before, but this is way better. It sits up higher on my back, with a sternum strap to keep it in place. No more back pain. It forces me to limit what junk I carry, while allowing me to carry enough to feel safe and prepared for short trips.

My only complaint is that I'm always finding my bite valve dirty. Unlike lidded water bottles, the valve is always exposed to the dirt and elements. Makes your mouth a little gritty!

Use the reservoir
I purchased this about a year ago and have been mainly using the reservoir in a bigger pack on hiking trips. The pack itself is comfortable for biking, but that's really the only time I've used it, as most of the day hikes I do generally require that I carry extra clothing that won't fit in the small pockets.
