On shorter journeys the Deva performs so well that, in 2003, Backpacker Magazine called it “the best women’s weekend pack.” Designed and tested by women, it’s Escape Series suspension has been modified—with a narrow back panel and adjustable waistbelt—for optimum female fit.
Picked one up for my wife last spring on sale at REI for $159.99. Well off the MSRP of $229. My wife loves it.
It has a lot of bells and whistles compared with the Gregory packs of just a few years ago. Improved back pad to reduce back sweating, plenty of external pockets, a easy to access water bottle holder and a good hydration bladder compartment are just a few of the things my wife has raved about. After one year which included three backpacking trips she has had no complaints.
