Observations

I was introduced to this shoe nearly 2-3 years ago when I started canyoneering. They have been a favorite of the local canyoneers here in the San Gabriel Valley, California for some time. Although listed as a trail running shoe, it's performance as an approach shoe and a general hiking shoe are simply amazing.

The Stealth Rubber soles are simply fantastic. Once I started using lighter-weight gear, I found that I was exclusively using these shoes for all of my 3 season activities. As an example, I've used them on Half Dome's Slabs Approach, Whitney's Mountaineer's Route, hiking to the bottom of the GRand Canyon, Mt. Russel's East Ridge, all my canyoneering trips, and for approaches in Joshua Tree.

For those of you who are lightweight gurus, you'll be hard pressed to find a lighter shoe with this kind of grip. My size 10.5 weigh 1lb 11oz for the pair.

The only complaint I have about the shoes, and I think this kind of goes with 5.10's in general, is the toes and heals will start to delaminate after awhile. Simply get some shoe glue or super glue and, "Presto!" Like new.

On a final note, I like these shoes so much, I have 3 pairs in my garage I haven't even worn yet. This is due, sadly, to the fact that 5.10 discontinued making the shoe. You can still find some out there, however. Good internet search skills will yield significant discounts for this underappreciated shoe.
