Personal Observations
I bought mine at REI - Boulder, CO on the recommendation of the clerk and have not regretted the decision. Great around camp and on the trail and I am pleased with the performance. Even on moonless nights the high beam provides adequate illumination on the trail to prevent miss-steps.
I've never used it with a helmet but have found no problem adjusting it over a stocking / beany cap. Battery life is pretty good although I always carry an extra set in my pack. The lamp itself adjusts up and down and is easy to turn on/off even while wearing medium weight gloves.
In my opinion the headlamp itself does look a bit
dorky on my head and lacks the 'cool factor' found in the bulkier battery pack units. However at less than $40
http:// and less than 4 oz you can't beat the function of this bad boy - never form over function in my opinion.
Bottom line - consider your needs. If you are looking for overall good quality with low weight and bright light, this might be the lamp for you.
Would love to hear if anyone has actually tested the water resistance of this lamp
Happy trails!
