Technical approach boot
This is a nice approach boot. GoreTex Extended comfort lining makes them water proof and breathable.....my warm feet don't get too sweaty. I like the mid cut for ankle support, ad the beefier sole, but they still have a climbing shoe feel when on a cliff or scrambling. At 2lbs 4oz for the pair they're pretty light. The beefy edge around the toe makes for great edging and the Vibram Vertical Approach sole is plenty sticky. Not a technical climbing shoe, but great for up to 5.7. This is the perfect shoe for a summer Grand Teton climb where you may need the water proof, stability for the approach hike, and the sticky rubber to climb.....plus all day comfort on lower grade routes. They break in nicely and are great for my medium width foot.....still comfy with thick merino wool socks on.
