TERRAIN NAVIGATOR

Regional collections of USGS topo maps and Software for 2-D and 3-D viewing, customizing, printing, and GPS.

USGS TOPOS ON CD-ROM

USGS topo maps are the recognized standard for off-road navigation. Maptech scans official paper maps to produce clear and detailed images of all 58,000+ USGS maps. Each CD-ROM contains up to 300 quads in two scales: 1:24/25,000 (7.5 minute series) and 1:100,000.

2-D AND 3-D VIEWS

View maps in 2-D or bring contour lines to life in 3-D. You also have the option of putting 2-D and 3-D side-by-side.

SEAMLESS OR WITH BORDERS

Scroll seamlessly from map to map, or view individual maps, complete with border and legend information - a Maptech exclusive. Here's an example of the seamless intersection of 4 maps:

ELEVATIONS AND PROFILES

View and print cross-sections and line-of-sight profiles with the latest high-resolution digital elevation data.

MARKS, ROUTES, AND TRACKS

Customize your maps with marks, routes, symbols and notes. Transfer Markers, Routes, and Tracks from popular GPS units (click here for list) to create waypoints for transfer to your GPS for field use; and take readings from your GPS for transfer back to Terrain Navigator

PRINT PERSONAL MAPS

Join adjacent maps together in a single printout (even at 4-corner intersections), either as a flat map or in 3-D. Add marks, routes, notes and symbols to your personal map.

GPS READY

Turn your PC into a moving map display. Connect a GPS and you'll see your position right on the screen.

Upload and download marks and tracks, but not maps, between your PC and popular GPS receivers.

Voted 5/5

I quit buying paper quads after buying this CD. You can get entire states for $89.00. At $6.00/paper quad, that would be almost $12,000 !!. The features and tools are great and the maps print just like the USGS paper quads. I don't use it with my GPS, because my unit has it's own mapping software. Cons: The 3D could be better. Otherwise, highly recommended.
