Product Description

Used from Coghlan's website:
A must for every field trip. The fire starter uses magnesium, a flame source of 5400°F (2982°C) One fire starter should provide sufficient shavings to start hundreds of fires.

Features/Directions

The Magnesium Fire Starter consists of two parts, the magnesium bar and embedded striker. To use, you will need a small pocketknife or anything that can shave a small pile of magnesium filings about the size of a dime in your tinder. To light, you simply strike the flint with your knife above the shavings until a spark ignites the pile. The sparks from striking the flint are extremely intense and can be blinding if viewed directly, so avert your eyes slightly to prevent this. The Magnesium bar, used conservatively, can start many more fires then you will probably need

Awesome little tool
Though I doubt I will ever need to use it, the Mg starter is nice to have. I suggest you practice a bit before you throw it in the pack, and make sure to have a pocketknife to use with it.
