Central AZ's Teapot Rock (left) and Giant's Thumb dwarf Midgley Bridge, taken from the east rim of Wilson Canyon looking south.
" Wilson Mountain (near Sedona) was named after prospector Richard Wilson, who was killed by a grizzly bear in this area in 1885. By the early 1900's, grizzlies were GONE forever from these mountains, as they were from most wild places in Arizona - victims of increasing population pressures & competiton for space from the growing cattle industry."
(Arizona Trailblazer - Nov. 16, 2002)
[The LAST grizzly bear to be seen in Arizona was killed on Mount Graham in
1935.]
And, please remember ... No Stopping at the
BRIDGE.
I wonder if there's a
troll living beneath that bridge ... hmmmm. ???
