Owl Butterfly

An enormous (15 cm) Owl Butterfly in Bosque Nuboso San Lorenzo, Costa Rica. If I hadn't been this close, I never would have noticed that it has striped eyes! November, 2006.

Freaky looking butterfly!

At first glance, it looked like a two-headed eel swimming out of a hole. Cool shot!
