Although Hwy 2 may be closed at Big Pine on the east side temporarily following storms, the road is generally closed for the winter and most of the spring at Vincent Gap. This is several miles farther west and provides access to Baden Powell. Baden Powell would otherwise be nearly inaccessible during these months.

This is a great looking page. My only complaint is the lack of photos. But you do have tons of info and that is more important.

...other than that, great page Steve! The high country of the San Gabriels is probably my favourite 'close to home' place. If you're lacking pics of some area's, don't hesitate to mail me. I have lots of shots from my hikes there.
Great effort here. I grew up in La Canada and these mountains were my old stomping ground. It's amazing how you come to miss things as time passes. This overview page is very helpful as a guide to this area. Thanks.
