There is an "Orphanage" user now; if he becomes widely used then this list may no longer be necessary. But right now this list needs to continue to exist since the pages on this list aren't owned by Orphanage.
Keep the list. Mr. Orphanage appears to be explicitly for pages whose owner is no longer (going to be) around on SP. This is a only a subset of all pages up for adoption.
Transferring my page (Aig. Blaitiere) to Orphanage means that nobody will be actively maintaining the page anymore, which is not what I want. Rather, I'm looking for a better owner for my page, but in the mean time I'm happy to try and keep it up to date and properly maintained.

I still don't understandwhy there's some inadequate and out-of-date pages on SP, and
the owners don't care enough to put their pages up for adoption.
It's a great concept, but only if the owners cooperate and care.
