A storm is a coming!   Sucess!

I drove up right at dusk to High Point. A storm was coming and didn't stay around too long. I had a nice leisurely visit!

in the dark  Sucess!

Had done OK and KS highpoints earlier in the day. Made this one about 9 pm in the dark. Of course I drove up the private property road accidentally before I figured things out. Only saw views of the red lights from the wind turbines and the moon. Camped at the worst campsite ever afterwards - Oliver Reservoir. Partiers and train horns all night long.

Nice and windy  Sucess!

4th state highpoint for me. It was decently windy, almost all the wind turbines were turning. Didn't see any bison in the fields but did see some in a pen earlier. Hit both CO-NE-WY and CO-KS-NE tri-points as well as the northeast corner of CO on the same daytrip.

Sorry Snek (#7)  Sucess!

On my way to Golden, CO I made a couple of stops. Number 2 was Panorama Point. It took a little bit to find this one. On my way I accidentally ran over a snake in the road and helped a seemingly lost little car also find the high point.

Buffalo Panorama  Sucess!

Google Maps didn't route me very well. After zig zagging unecessarily, it led me to an old farm house. the correct gate and sign was several hundred yards to the south. The bison were about 200 yards away from the mounument. Thunder showers threatening. A family also visiting. StHP #11

HP #11, Panorama Point, NE  Sucess!

Hiking snow covered trails on Black Elk yesterday, hanging with the bison at Panorama today. This is great!

Highpoint Bison Ranch surrounds the Highpoint. They have a Bison herd of about 150 head that frolicked, ran, walked to fence in falling snow. Minimal fence kept the bison corralled, only 25 feet away. Do not leave car and approach bison.

After completing the HP visit, I was beginning to head for Kansas and approached a rancher from behind moving his cattle to another pasture because a gate was down and his livestock was loose, some up ahead eating his grass at his ranch house.
He flagged me down, he said I could I drive through, just go slow.
I began and I ended up splitting the herd. He stayed behind me and moved about 12 head, I had the rest of the herd, about 50. They stayed in front of me and would run if I came too close. I knew where the ranch house was located where he needed to get other cattle that escaped and "went home" to his yard. I thought, what the heck, I will drive the large group to that driveway and see what happens. They knew what to do. My first cattle drive was successful. I need to add that to my Dream List and declare it complete. Oh yea, it was cute, two head ran from his group, one by one, and caught my group, they knew who the best cattle driver was. They looked at me as I drove slowly and they passed me on the right side of the vehicle.

High Point #5  Sucess!

My sister and her husband flew out from Utah last night and since there was a bunch of snow on the trails near Boulder we decided to head out to the plains. We first hit the WY-NE-CO tripoint. We then drove over to the Panorama Point. It was cool to see the Mummy Range poking up in the southwest. After Panorama Point we hiked to the Pawnee Buttes so that we could say we did something.
