Not much Panorama at 2:30am  Sucess!

Stopped by on my way back from a two week road trip out to Lake Tahoe. Did Magazine, Black Mesa, Wheeler (NM), Wheeler (NV), Boundary and Montgomery on the way out to Tahoe. Wasn't much to see in the middle of the night except the red lights from the windmills. At the tri-state marker I encountered a cow and her calf grazing.

HP #9  Sucess!

Successful? barely. ha ha
Hit it on the way back from hiking Harney in SD. Nebraska has some nice bluffs and small peaks near Chadron. Was a little disappointed that the HP was not there in the green hills. But a highpoint is a highpoint.

Great drive up from Boulder, saw cool clouds and bison at the top. Also visited the tri-state marker.

HP #19  Sucess!

Drove from Leadville, having summited Mt. Elbert the day before. I enjoyed the drive and as a complete opposite of the Rockies, I found the open land and big sky of this highpoint quite beautiful.

#1 of The Final Five  Sucess!

Holly and I drove over, said hi to the Buffalo, and then out Panorama Point. This was known as Constable Mountain, for the owners, when I started bagging state highpoints in 1985. Summited while on my 8000-mile Great American Road Trip, in which I bagged the last 5 state high points of my 49 state high points. I'm going to do. Decided 12 years ago to forego Alasaka, I'd much rather go to Nepal if I can go on another 3 week climb somewhere.

Windy!  Sucess!

This was the first of three highpoints we visited on a trip to Nebraska and the Dakotas. It was windy and cool. We got some good pics of the buffalo and wind turbines. HP20

Panorama Point  Sucess!

Very easy drive-up, but you will travel along many dirt roads to get there, especially if your GPS guides you. The underbelly of my car got a thorough scraping traveling up the road to the site.

We went to the 3 state marker (NB, WY, CO) that's about 10 minutes away. Good pictures and saw a bison ranch just south of the PP entrance.

Panorama Point  Sucess!

It was tough, but after 20 grueling miles of dirt roads and the GPS telling me where to go, I found the Highpoint of Nebraska. We were very proud to be standing like 1000 miles away from home in pretty country. Very windy, and no bison, only bison pies! #3 for me!

Crowd at the Top  Sucess!

Well, two other people is not exactly a crowd but after the miles and miles of nothing getting there we were shocked not to be the only ones at the summit! Surprised by the entrance fee but at least we got to see some buffalo...made me a bit hungry...

I really like these type of out of the way attractions. This ranks up with the World's Largest Ball of Twine in Cawker City, Kansas.

Lots of open space  Sucess!

The views are very nice out here in the middle of nowhere. There was also a lot of bison watching me as I "summited".

Two State Highpoints, One Day!!!  Sucess!

After visiting Kansas' state highpoint (Mount Sunflower) in the morning, I drove to Nebraska so that I could visit it's state highpoint (Panorama Point) the same day. I have to be honest... When people talk about "driving in the middle of nowhere", they don't know what they are talking about *unless* they are referring to the 20 miles of dirt roads leading to this location. It was very windy at the "summit", but otherwise there was beautiful weather. Panorama Point, itself, had good views, and I am glad to have travelled to it.

I like it on top
