Miserable wet day with ice and snow in addition to knee deep puddles every few steps.
Panther's bald peak provided the best views of the day IMHO. I really will consider going back here in the future to spend more time on the summit.
Summited Panther Peak after Santanoni. Came up Santanoni Express and returned via the trail to Bradley Pond. Great day, trail was in great shape too.
Second peak of the day on a solo range traverse. #41 for me!
From Tahawas Trailhead with Dan and Jason.
Summited Panther Peak 4442' during a weekend backpacking trip. Our group stayed at the Santanoni Lean-To after the hike in hiking a few miles on Friday, we summited all 3 peaks of the Santanoni Range on Saturday under excellent weather, stayed the night again and turned in on Sunday morning. The heard paths are in good shape, but they are muddy as can be and can be difficult to navigate.
couch -> santa -> panther
beautiful day with perfect conditions
topped off by a gorgeous sunset on the peak of panther
Hiked with Santi and Couch. Panther First, Santi Last
Super short hike from Herald Square.
Is it me or is the route up to Times Square much longer than expected?
Second peak of the range notched on the day. Came up the old/new trail on Santanoni. Went out down Panther Brook. Was with my sister, this was her second 4ker in the ADKs.
Nice peak. Pretty quick from TImes Square. My first "trailess" peak.
Climbed with Santanoni via Duck Hole Trail from Tahawus. Lots of mud for almost all of the hike. Times Square was almost entirely underwater even on this sunny day. The views from Panther's rocky summit made up for it though.
Hiked late in the day and didn't spend much time at the top in order to get back down before sunset. Lots of sunshine made for a lovely day. #29/46
finally at last...
We caught up with two other groups and assisted the pounding out of snow (occasionally chest high) up to Time Square. Then we turned around. It was a cold, but it progressed into a nice day with increasing spots of sun. About 11 people have been through as of today. So, there you have it. A nicely packed trail awaits you to summit and pack down the ridges to Couch and Santanoni. E-mail me if you do - I'll follow right behind.
What a muckey mess.

great fun and great weather both times. This must be the most visited Peak on anyones list as so many times I've ended up here twice on one day "by accident".
